Amsterdam, June 15th 2021 – German holidaymakers booked almost twice as many holiday homes in the Netherlands last week for the summer holidays as the week before. This is evident from data from holiday home specialist Belvilla.
The summer bookings of German holidaymakers to Holland rose by 87%. The increase in the opposite direction was exactly the same: last week the number of bookings by Dutch holidaymakers to Germany also rose by 87%. Austria is also on the rise as a holiday destination: last week, 95% more holiday homes in Austria were booked by Dutch people compared to the week before.
Significantly more holiday homes were booked in France by Dutch (+33%). The increase was 9% for holiday homes in Italy. The Netherlands continues to be popular as a holiday destination: on a weekly basis, the number of bookings increased by 33% for domestic but also international travelers.
Hanita van der Meer, Director PR and Communication of Belvilla and OYO Vacation Homes: “Now that the new travel advice is official, we immediately notice that there is a lot of enthusiasm for holiday homes in Germany and Austria, traditionally popular holiday countries. Although a different travel advice has only been in force since Thursday 10 June, we see the increase in the number of bookings immediately reflected in the data.”
Belvilla’s offering, part of OYO Vacation Homes since 2019, consists of over 40,000 holiday homes in 20 European countries.
