Almost seven in ten Belgians book Easter holidays in their own country
Of all Belgians who booked an Easter holiday between the 1st and 16th of April, as many as 68.7% chose to stay in their own country. This was calculated by holiday home expert Belvilla by OYO. So, Belgians are opting for abroad slightly more: in 2022, Belgium kept 72 % of their traveling compatriots within its borders.
The Netherlands is particularly popular in this respect. Indeed, the northern neighbors account for 9.3% of Belgian Belvilla bookings. The top five this Easter holiday are followed by France (8.7% of bookings), Austria (5.8%), and Germany (4.1%).
Although Belgium is slightly less popular as a destination than last year, the number of bookings is still higher than before the pandemic. In 2019, the country managed to convince 61.7% of its traveling residents. Exactly 7% points less than this year.
Luxembourg is very much in demand
Of all Belgians planning a Belvilla Easter holiday in their own country, 38.8% head for the province of Luxembourg. Liege snatches the silver medal with 30.5%. Namur follows in third place, with 15.2%. West Flanders (8.9%) and Limburg (3.2%) are also among the five most popular destinations in Belgium.
